Home Finding Unit

The need for quality foster family homes for children requiring out-of-home care in New York City has become staggering in recent years. The Home Finding Unit is responsible for the recruitment of prospective foster homes. Foster parents today need to be able to provide more than an abundance of love. The EGSCF recruitment process screens prospective foster parents to ensure that they are mentally prepared and have the proper supports to care for our children. Once a foster parent is certified with the Agency, they qualify to receive special skills, training, and financial assistance.

The Home Finding Unit focuses its efforts to recruit and license new foster homes and retains foster families in the program by annually re-certifying licensed homes once they have met all of NYC Children’s Services (formerly ACS) mandated safety requirements.

Staffed by experienced and committed professional social workers, the Home Finding Unit is responsible for home studies, matching vacancies in homes to children needing placement and monitoring foster homes.
