Family Solutions Aftercare Program

The Family Solutions Aftercare Program (FSAP) is committed to providing children, adolescents and families with all supports necessary for them to enjoy life as a reunited family, and become functional and financially stable in their communities. When children make the transition from a foster care placement back to their homes the FSAP specialized support staff ensures that a system of support, information and advocacy are readily available to assist and strengthen families.
Families that have involvement with the foster care system due to substance or alcohol abuse are partnered with a Recovery Coach who helps them along the path to sobriety. A Community Liaison is available to help families locate resources in their neighborhoods. Parent Advocates who have had personal experiences with the child welfare system are available to answer questions and help birth parents to understand the foster care system. If housing issues are a barrier to reunification, a Housing Advocate is available to complete the required paperwork for Section 8 and NYCHA, and help birth parents to obtain NYCCS housing subsidies and furniture grants.
