ADOPTION:

Once a determination has been made that it is not feasible for a child to be reunified with their birth family and a Family Court Judge rules that the parental rights of the parent have been terminated, the child is transferred to the Adoption Unit where procedures are immediately implemented to achieve permanency via adoption. In FY 2011, the Agency was able to secure adoptions for 73 children and adolescents, including LGBTQ youth.

The Edwin Gould Adoption Unit  is based at our main office at Lawrence Street in Brooklyn.
